CSB Battalions – Encountering One Another

Camporamas and other regional camping events are important in everyone’s experience as a brigadier.  What if there was something like a Super Camporama? There is!  Every young man should experience an N-Counter at least once in his Battalion career!

New England Frontier Camp-O-Rama 2015

“The annual Christian Service Brigade Camp-O-Rama was held at New England Frontier Camp (Lovell, Maine) on May 15-17. We saw about 80 young men (Battalion and Stockade) from all over New England with their Brigade units, enjoying some spring camping and fun activities. Always a great time, and this year’s event did not disappoint!” – Junior Perkins, CSB Regional Director

Events for the 2015  Camporama: Archery, Fire Building, Canoe Race (on Kezar Lake), Truck Pull, Air Soft : Last Man Standing, Riflery .22 Range,  and a surprise team builder activity (involving pies).  Theme was on the Bible book of Daniel.
Junior says the best thing in recent years is the emphasis on fellowship among the CSB units. “Our Battalions do a lot of interaction at this event.”  One of the units comes from Presque Isle, Maine, 7 hours drive to NEFC, Lovell, ME.
We hope every one of the New England Battalions will find a way to make travel plans and come, maybe travel together, to N-Counter 2016.

Beginning of a Battalion?

This year a unit from Grace Chapel in Lexington, Massachusetts joined with us at Camp-O-Rama at New England Frontier Camp in Lovell, Maine.  There were six Battalion age young men led by a Stockade leader for the weekend.  One of these, Nathan Harrington had been at some events at New England Frontier Camp before as a Stockade camper and at other weekend events.  Nathan is fourteen, and he not only organized that group but also did much of the leading of that group throughout the weekend.  He has also expressed interest in receiving resources throughout the year to pass on to that group and encourage them and others to attend the upcoming N-Counter event for Battalion next spring!

“Nathan was an example throughout the weekend as an encouragement to our current leaders that the work they are doing is relevant and absolutely necessary for our men, young men, and boys participating in CSB.  Great job to Nathan!”

Camp Fest on Long Island, West Hills County Park, Huntington, NY

Campfest 2015 brought Battalions  and Stockades from Long Island together for competition and fellowship.  It’s a two night event at a county park, and fathers come out to interact with their sons. There are team oriented events on Saturday like obstacle course, tug of war, scripture skills, scavenger hunt, fire building and knot tying.
Dave Cameron of CSB 3560,Dix Hills EFC is the primary organizer, but most of the units get involved with planning at a January meeting.  Dave says  “Campfest 2015 is intended, by design for fathers to interact with their boys in a way they are unable to do during weekly Brigade meetings. We encourage fathers to take advantage of the many opportunities you will find for personal ministry.  Camaraderie, teamwork and group participation are the real goals of the event. As well as giving the dads material to use as they build relationships with the boys God has entrusted them with. We encourage dads to come and enjoy the weekend with their sons, since they are away from the demands of their everyday lives, they can enjoy each others company.”
Campfest 2015 is intended, by design for fathers to interact with their boys in a way they are unable to do during weekly Brigade meetings. We encourage fathers to take advantage of the many opportunities you will find for personal ministry. We hold several team oriented events throughout the day on Saturday and while we do record who wins the events, competition is not a goal and is downplayed. Some of the events include an obstacle course, tug of war, scripture skills, scavenger hunt, fire building and knot tying. Competing in the events are the different Brigade units that come each year.”

Our theme verse this year is Psalm 18:32, "It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure."

Delaware Valley Camporama for PA, DE, NJ -  Fight of Faith

One unit’s experience
Captain Dennis’ email to follow up the Camporama Weekend
Battalion, Parents, Mentors,

“Thanks to all six of the guys who went up to Haycock Camp this weekend and a special thanks to Kevin and JR (pastor and father) for going along. We had a GREAT time and tied for 4th place out of 9 Battalion units that competed in the event. It was pretty doggone cold up there Friday night and we discovered that if something doesn't get done by baking it, we can always get it done by frying it!  Example: Pizza Logs! They are great! We also fried doughnuts. We won first place in the Scripture Skills and in the Sling Shot. I am so proud of our Battalion.”

Thanks to all of you that make this possible!

Capital Region Camporama at Hemlock

CSB 7117  Severna Park EP Church played host and organizer for the 2015 Camporama.  Attendance was great, at 185 from 13 Battalions.  Sergeant Jacob Brunk emphasized “interconnectedness” with other Battalion units in the region.  This year he spent time visiting other CSB units and an ambassador at camporama.   Bridging to other units in other communities.  Became a student of what leadership is.  Every good leader is passionate about a cause, and this was Jacob’s cause.  See our former blog entry for notes from Capt. Mike Sherbert.

Eastern Great Lakes Region at Camp Hickory Hill.

The theme at this years Eastern Great Lakes Camporama was discernment.  For the third year running, a highlight is the Push Cart Race, and each Battalion builds and brings their own.  Watch the tightly contested Push Cart Finals at Camp Hickory Hill in this video.

N-Counter or "Super Camporama 2016 !!"

Camporamas and other regional camping events are important in everyone’s experience as a brigadier.  What if there was something like a Super Camporama? There is!  Every young man should experience an N-Counter at least once in his Battalion career!

CSB Ministries is supporting the N-Counter 2016 as a multi-regional Battalion event next spring.  All Battalions in your area are setting aside their regional camping events in order to attend N-Counter 2016.  This event brings Battalion units together for a weekend of great and sometimes unusual activities that might not happen if it not for such an event as this. N-Counter is designed to take place every five years to give each generation of brigadiers a chance to experience an event of this magnitude.
